A gripping and powerful tale of unconventional love forged by soul-shattering hardships, fierce duty and raw passion that reshapes genre boundaries.
Short-tempered Lana Martin is a workaholic consultant based in Tokyo who has spent twenty years rebuilding her life after a traumatic loss. Not one to turn down a challenge, she accepts the indecent yet tempting proposal of her martial arts instructor to become his submissive in a dynamic that tests her resilience.
Against all odds, spreading like wildfire, their affair lights up another blaze, this time between Lana and Honda’s wife, the sophisticated socialite Yuki. Glad to get the chance to express some of her deepest cravings, Lana embraces what her two masters offer her.
However, unbeknown to her, their powerful desire has other much darker roots and rouses ancient Japanese demons who have waited for decades to claim their prizes. Lana must confront the enemy eating her from within, while pulling back Honda from the edge of madness. Yuki’s unwavering strength will keep them sane – but for how long?
A two-edged sword, the trio’s fiery passion will either destroy them or be the key to their salvation.
TEMPER: DEFERENCE is the first book of the TEMPER saga that continues with DREAD and ends with DELIVERANCE (two cliffhangers and a HEA).
Review:
I’m going to start out by saying, for this being Ms. Mina’s first book, she knocked it out of the park! This was easily a 5 star read in the first few chapters alone. That’s saying a lot!
The author’s ability to describe the world in which our characters are a part of, Japan, allowed me, the reader, who had never been there before to fully see through their eyes and feel as though I’d lived there, or at least visited enough to think of myself familiar with the surroundings.
The characters were written in a manner that you believed yourself to either be them or know them. Be it friends or enemies.
Technical things aside, this book pulled me in so quickly! Lila Mina wrote an all consuming page turner. What scares me is that this is only book 1. So many things are still shrouded in mystery that is yet to be revealed. Leaving you hanging just enough that you want to get book 2 (Which I hear will be out before too long, thank goodness), but not enough to leave you frustrated.
The heat within these pages, between these characters, will have you reaching for your fan to cool yourself off. Once I started, it was very tough to give in to reality and remember I wasn’t a part of the book but lived in this thing called reality LMAO!!!!
You’ll end up with one of the best book hangovers ever! HIGHLY recommend this read and author to anyone!
